This question genuinely pissed me off.

geraldinee:

“do you think that since you did all that hard work in high school and you’re just going to SJSU, that you kinda wasted your time? because i didn’t do any AP classes and i still got accepted to SJSU with a 3.0”

Honestly, I really don’t devote my time to questions I receive on the internet but this really ticked me off. Thank you, however, to the person who sent me this because you made me realize how passionate I am about the value of work ethic. Thanks.

But to answer the above question: No, it was definitely not a waste of my time. You will always benefit from hard work, or at least by putting in effort, that’s an obvious note. So for you to ask ‘do you think that..all that hard work..kinda wasted [my] time?’ is, theoretically, a stupid question. To progress in anything you do, assuming that you want to be successful, you always need to challenge yourself regardless. AP classes were definitely a challenge for me, of course any advance placement will always be harder (hence, advanced). But I engaged the opportunity I was given and am now experienced with how to deal with a heavier work-load.

Personally, I know I benefited from the five AP classes I’ve taken. I honestly wish I took more, sometimes. Point is, I challenged myself in order to gain something new. If I were to have taken easier classes, what would I had gained? Seriously, tell me. How do I learn something new from something I’ve already mastered? I don’t. You need to utilize the challenges you’re presented with and turn them into stepping stones. If you don’t think you’re getting anywhere then you’re not pushing yourself hard enough, it’s an obvious concept. And you need to remember that it’s never where you start, it’s how you finish.

So what if I’m only going to SJSU? Did you think that was my goal? You’ve got to be shitting me if you think I even considered SJSU at first. I wanted to go to Davis or Dominican. But of course money always has to be an issue. And it wasn’t my decision, it was my mom’s. You have no idea how much control your parents have over your education, I obviously didn’t. I seriously cried so many times and begged my mom to the point where she left me sitting outside of her work, in my car, balling my eyes out - and she did not give two fucks. But what was I going to do, I don’t have that kind of money. So seriously, think before you start judging other people and their decisions.

I’m about to sound a littler harsh, but why are you questioning me on my hard work when, if I were to judge, you obviously didn’t exemplify hard work at all by receiving a 3.0 without any AP classes/ challenging courses? Shouldn’t your GPA be higher then, since you had ‘easier’ classes? You see. Really think before you assume something. Seriously.

Well said, Geraldine. Well said.

Grey Goose and Patron, now I’m gone. Every song is not my song. Nothing’s wrong, I’m just faded. Turn that up, that’s my favorite.

Evaluate your life before coming at me with your unwanted two cents about how I should live mine.

Other than the fact that they decided to replace Appa with a fucking polar bear, the show is actually good. Hopefully the plot doesn’t let me down. I still miss Appa though.

I make up excuses for you but then again, why should I have to? Love isn’t about putting my time, effort and dedication on the line if I know it’s all for naught. It’s about giving a realistic number of chances, and beyond that, it’s no longer my responsibility.

.. and I love the way she looks at me, when I tell her she’s all I need.
